Imagine this: Four days in Atlanta. Live music that makes you want to sing along. Conversations that light you up. Ideas that stick with you long after you head home. And a whole bunch of folks who get it—who know that building a joyful, meaningful community without religion isn't just possible—such communities are thriving.
The Sunday Assembly Conference is coming to Atlanta for 2026, and we're ready to open our doors, celebrate this one life we know we have, and dream up what comes next.
This year's theme is Welcome Y'all—and yes, that's genuine Southern hospitality, but it's also something bigger. It's about the radical act of making space for each other, for new possibilities, for all the parts of ourselves that need a home.
Come on down. Bring your whole self—your hope and your questions, your energy and your weariness, your vision for what's possible.
Inspiring talks and workshops on living better, helping often, and wondering more
Live music, singing, and creative activities that'll have you feeling connected and alive
Deep conversations with members and dreamers from Sunday Assemblies around the world
Time to explore Atlanta—urban walking trails, incredible food, civil rights history, and green spaces galore
Rituals and reflections that honor what matters in this one life we know we have
Practical strategies for building and sustaining secular community
Men's World Cup watch parties and general festive activities related to the sport!
Whether you've been part of an assembly for years, you're new to our secular community, or you’re thinking about starting something in your town—there's a place for you here.
Like biscuits and gravy, this conference has two parts that make it complete: The daytime brings talks, workshops, and structured sessions you can explore in detail here. Then, as the day cools and the evening comes alive, we'll offer organized activities for those who want company and structure, plus plenty of recommendations for self-guided adventures, dinner spots, and ways to experience Atlanta at your own pace. Learn more about after-hours options here.

Atlanta hosted the 2015 conference when the Sunday Assembly movement was young and scrappy. Eleven years later, we're more experienced, maybe a bit wiser, definitely still learning—and more committed than ever to the communities we're building.
Welcome is a practice and a posture we choose, especially when forces around us try to divide. This conference explores Welcome as:
Opening our doors to people the world would rather push away
Creating genuinely safe spaces for LGBTQ+ folks, people of color, immigrants, disabled folks, and all marginalized communities
Embracing uncertainty and new possibilities as we navigate changing times
Making room for all parts of ourselves—our anger and hope, grief and joy, exhaustion and determination
Building beloved community through everyday acts of radical hospitality
Nurturing creativity and imagination when we need it most
This conference is designed to restore what may be depleted, to help you reconnect with the "why" beneath your secular community, and to send you home rejuvenated for whatever comes next.
This conference follows Sunday Assembly Atlanta's Code of Conduct because we're serious about creating welcoming, safe spaces for everyone.
Across the US, the UK, and beyond, the nonreligious population keeps growing—we count for nearly a third in many places now. Yet so many of us are isolated and scattered (and smothered and covered, for those who know), wondering where we fit. At the same time, political and social tensions run high, with division threatening the issues we care about—human rights, climate justice, economic fairness, bodily autonomy—all of which feel more urgent than ever. That's exactly why the work we're doing matters.
Creating spaces grounded in reason and compassion, where science and evidence guide us, where progressive values are lived out loud, where people can show up authentically without pretending to believe things they don't: This is the work, this is the joy. We're not just gathering for nice Sunday events (though we do throw a good potluck). We're building real infrastructure for belonging. We're creating mutual aid networks and chosen families. We're proving that a secular community can be just as rich, sustaining, and joyful as any faith tradition—and maybe more inclusive to boot.
